Breeders' Cup Classic: Code of Honor (#11) has been consistent all year. I look for him to stalk the pace and make his move turning for home in a very competitive race. Should be enough early speed to set it up for him. His biggest question mark is how he handles the Santa Anita surface. Yoshida (#5) will be making a run down the lane and can pick up a piece of this one. Vino Rosso (#10) ran a nice race over the track and is my pick to hang around and round out the trifecta. I’m also going to through McKinzie (#8) into the mix on my exotics.
Breeders' Cup Turf: Bricks and Mortar (#9) is the class of the race. If he runs his race, I don’t see this field beating him. He is as tough as they come. Anthony Van Dyck (#5) has had a good campaign in Europe and will be the toughest competition for the top pick. I round out the field with another Aidan O’Brien entry in Mount Everest (#4). This will be a step up for him and we will see if he can make the climb.
Breeders' Cup Mile: Circus Maximus (#9) is a nice colt coming in from Europe for Aiden O’Brien. Hard fought win last out. Should fit in here even though he is only a 3yo. Uni (#11) has been hard-knocking over the last two years, winning six of seven races. Will be tough with late run, even against the boys. I round out my trifecta with another European invader with Space Traveller (#3). He also will be running late.
Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf: Vasilka (#7) is an example of a horse for a course. She has 11 wins in 12 starts, with 1 second place finish, over the Santa Anita turf course. It will be a tall order for her to beat Sistercharlie (#2), but I think she can get the jump on her and hold her off late. I round out my picks with Fleeting (#3) and Billesdon Brook (#4).
